- HMPE sling with integrated, compact shock absorber ā developed with Simon Gietl
- Areas of use: alpine, big wall, and ice climbing with questionable anchor points
- Reduces the dynamic impact force on the anchor point to less than 4 kN
- 3Ā kN static response force
- With a weight of less than 50Ā g, only negligibly heavier than a conventional quickdraw sling
- Braking distance 85Ā cm (total deployed length: 100Ā cm)
- The combination of a G-SCREAMER and rope clamp pursuant to ENĀ 567 fulfills the dynamic requirements established in ENĀ 15151-1 (braking device with manually assisted locking) and can therefore be used to belay a follower
- Must not be used to substitute a via ferrata lanyard
G-Screamer
The G-SCREAMER is a small, light HMPE sling with an integrated, compact shock absorber that can offer important safety reserves in alpine terrain or when big wall or ice climbing. With a length of 15 cm, it is hung between two carabiners like a quickdraw sling and used as protection in the case of questionable anchor points and/or larger gaps so as to minimize the load on such anchor points. In the event of a fall, the shock absorber deploys, absorbing energy and reducing the impact force on the anchor point to less than 4 kN. The total length following the full deployment of the shock absorber is 100 cm. Thanks to its minimal weight of less than 50 g, the G-SCREAMER is only negligibly heavier than a conventional quickdraw sling while still offering a major safety reserve when attached to a harness. As an additional innovative use, when combined with rope clamps pursuant to EN 567, the G-SCREAMER fulfills the dynamic requirements established in EN 15151-1 (braking devices with manually assisted locking) so as to enable belaying with rope clamps. This combination vastly reduces the probability of rope damage if the follower falls.
